When a homeowner lands on your site, they have one burning question: "Is this a real company, or a guy with a truck?"
You spent years earning your License, Insurance, BBB Accreditation, and 5-Star Reviews. So why do you hide these badges in the footer where nobody looks?
Trust is not an afterthought. It is the currency of conversion. It belongs at the top.
The "F-Pattern" & Heatmaps
Eye-tracking studies consistently show that users scan websites in an "F-Pattern" (Top left, across, then down).
The area "Above the Fold" gets 80% of the attention. The footer gets less than 5%.
The "Trust Sandwich" Technique
Don't just randomly scatter badges. Use the "Trust Sandwich" layout for your Hero Section:
- Top Bun: Your Headline ("Emergency Plumbing 24/7").
- The Meat: Your Trust Badges (BBB, License #, "500+ Reviews").
- Bottom Bun: Your CTA Button ("Call Now").
This structure answers the user's subconscious flow: "What do you do? -> Can I trust you? -> Okay, let's talk."
Conclusion
If you have a license, flaunt it. If you have insurance, show it.
Move your badges from the basement (footer) to the front porch (header). It is the easiest conversion lift you will ever get.
